To shorten download time, we have split the calendar by quarters, and certain events have been moved to their own  pages, leaving only annual highlights from them on this page. Major event highlights are still here. Not all events have been updated to 2007; be sure to notice dates, and use phone numbers supplied if out of date. You can highlight what you want and just print your selection, or print all.

Some of their Charities are; Scholarships for youth, Drug Awareness in schools, Literacy, Americanism, and Community Service where they help the Salvation Army, Food Bank, K9 unit, & Volunteers in Policing, just to name a few.

HIPOW Public Auction (10/7-8/11) (see dinner auction later for 10/8) Monroe Catholic Junior Senior High School gym, 615 Monroe Street. Free admission, doors open @6 p.m., auction @ 7 p.m. More information on the auction will be posted on http://www.catholic-schools.org. A few days earlier there is usually an Art Preview Night, 5-7 p.m. to preview the art up for auction at HIPOW.

HIPOW Black Tie Dinner & Auction (10/8/11) By advance reservation only, tickets are $100 per seat. Saturday night the doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner is at 6:30, and the auction begins at  7  p.m. Call 456-7970 for information and tickets. HIPOW is the largest fundraiser for catholic Schools of Fairbanks, with more than 2,500 donated items.

Fairbanks International Friendship Day (10/15/11) Pioneer Park, Civic Center 12 noon to 5 p.m. Stage Performances, cultural displays, food and gift litems for sale. 474-0928. Co-sponsored by FNSB Parks & Recreation.

4th Annual Shopping Spree & Social, (10/15/11) Fairbanks Emblem Club #109. 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. 1003 Pioneer Rd, Fairbanks, in the Antler Room upstairs at the Elks Lodge. Come shop with a variety of vendors. Admission to this event is Free to the public!Get an early start on your Holiday Shopping. Alaska Day! (10/18)

Public Hearing (10/19/11) Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is hosting a public hearing about its draft revised long-term management plan. The hearing will be held in the Arthur Buswell Conference Room at the Carlson Center from 3 to 9:30 pm. The Refuge looks forward to hearing what you think about the draft revised plan. City Sampler: A Taste of Fairbanks (10/20/11) 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Westmark Fairbanks Gold Room. Taste cuisine and beverages from Fairbanks' finest restaurants, caterers, and distributors. Fairbanks Community Jazz Band, M.C. Jerry Evans, and fabulous door prizes. GRAND PRIZE: round trip airfare for 2 to Germany via Condor Air. Proceeds benefit Fairbanks Resource Agency (FRA) Senior Services programs. Tickets $40 per person at Gulliver's Books, Hops Halmark, or FRA, more info www.fra-alaska.net or call 456-8901

52nd Annual Cham Fashional (10/22/11) Sponsored by Quota International Fairbanks. Will be held at the Westmark Fairbanks Hotel Gold Room, 7 p.m. (cocktails - champagne & hors d'oeuvres), choreographed Fashion Show at 8 p.m.,  dance till 1 a.m. to live music.  This is an annual fundraiser for Quota International Fairbanks, whose special interest is disadvantaged women & children, and those with speech & hearing impairments. Come support a great community service organization while enjoying champagne, hors d'oeuvres, and great fashions, then dance the night away with the great live dance band.  Call 490-2325 for tickets; $75 per person or $650 for a table of 10.

Monroe Holiday Bazaar (10/29/11) 10:00 am—4:00 pm

Children's Fall Festival (10/29/11) [Please note this is early, due to Halloween falling on a school night]. An annual Christian alternative to trick-or-treat. Games, candy, fun. University Baptist Church (University Ave & Thomas Street, next to Sourdough Sams Cafe), 3 to 5 p.m. Children are invited to wear their costumes (avoid witches and ghosts please). Supervised fun, with preschoolers in separate area. Lots of candy.  FREE

Museum Halloween (10/31/11) Costumed superheroes, zombies and scary monsters of all kinds are invited to the Halloween celebration at the University of Alaska Museum of the North from 4 to 7 p.m. Watch science experiments unfold. See bones and bugs, bats and birds. Tour the museum's research labs and explore the galleries. For children ages 12 and under with adult chaperones. Admission is free with a donation of canned food for the Fairbanks Community Food Bank.

University Women's Association Annual Christmas Bazaar (11/5,6/11) Large popular bazaar featuring crafters from around Alaska for savvy Christmas shoppers. Over 100 vendors per day. Features food court, free parking and different crafters each day. Proceeds to benefit college scholarships, UAF Wood Center, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (907) 456-4009.

The Holiday Marketplace (11/11-13/11) More than 175 vendors (crafts and artisans) from around the state. Carlson Center.  $4 admission, children 12 and under free. The North Pole High School Choir will provide on-site daycare for $4 an hour.

Military Appreciation Day (11/12/05) Noon to 5 p.m. at the University of Alaska Museum of the North. The Museum salutes the Interior’s military personnel, veterans and their families. Explore the galleries, visit with Alaska Native artists, and enjoy hands-on ctivities for kids. FREE! (907) 474-7505.

Love Inc. Create a Gift Bazaar (11/14/09) 10 .a.m-4 p.m. Make a variety of gifts for family and friends. Monroe Catholic Schools multipurpose room. $5. 479-0271. Athabascan Fiddlers' Festival (11/11-14/11). Location David Salmon Tribal Hall, Fairbanks, AK. Traditional Athabascan Indian fiddling and dancing. Dedicated to the tradition of Athabascan fiddling and dancing. Dancing, guitar-playing, fiddling and performances by village representatives. Athabascan Fiddlers Association. "The Athabascan Fiddlers Festival has grown tremendously over the past 20 years to become one of the three major cultural events of the year," according to festival founder, Jean Flanagan Carlo. [News-Miner, 11/1/01 ]. Tickets are available at the Denakkanaaga Office in the Morris Thompson Visitor and Cultural Center. Advance Tickets are $18.00 sold at the Denakkanaaga Office; at the door they are $20.00. Featuring 80+ Native Bands

Annual St. Raphael's Christmas Ball and Auction (11/22/06) Westmark Hotel Gold Room; 6 p.m.-midnight. Fundraiser, quilt raffle, dancing, and a silent auction with over 700 items. Thanksgiving Day (11/24/11) HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Happy Thanksgiving!
If you happen to be in town for the holidays, check our restaurant page for your turkey dinner with all the fixings. Many churches will have special services on either Thanksgiving, or on Wednesday, the 24th.

UAF Museum Store Holiday Sale (11/27/09-12/24/09) Take care of everyone on your holiday shopping list at the Museum Store. Candle Lighting Service (12/04/11) Always the first Sunday in December. Celebrate the Christmas season in North Pole, Alaska. 2 p.m. at North Pole High School. Tree lighting same day at Santa's RV Park next to Santa Claus House, 6 p.m. (907) 488-2242. For over thirty years, North Pole has been holding this Candelighting Ceremony to begin the Christmas season. This is an important Chamber function.  The Program focus is on local children, and others who have made great contributions to the North Pole community. Each year an excellent show of talent and inspiration is planned. After the candelighting ceremony is finished there will be time for a little refreshment and mingling.

Georgeson Botanical Garden Holiday Sale (12/4/09) 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Main commons of University of Alaska Fairbanks Wood Center. Public is welcome to buy, but the sale is Not open to general public vendors. Vendors are specially chosen - UAF related, such as from Large Animal Research Station, Sea Grant, University of Alaska Press, & local student entrepreneurs specializing in Alaska-made and Alaska-grown items. North Pole Winter Festival (12/5,6/09) Food, information and vendor booths with activities, demonstrations and entertainment for everyone. Annual I-Did-A-Block Businessman's Dog Race.
