Canoe AlaskaCanoe Trip

Canoeing and paddle rafting on rivers of  interior Alaska.

 "Paddle rafting" is billed as safe for all ages (moving current, but no whitewater).

Canoe Alaska has conducted canoe instruction and guided wilderness trips since 1980 throughout interior Alaska, utilizing all certified American Canoe Association instructors.

Paddle Rafting:
Raft guides provide the expertise, and transportation to and from the river and lunch is provided. Plan on a full day, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Location: One-Mile Chena Small Tracts Road. Phone (907) 479-5183, Fax (907) 479-5383, or you can E-Mail them at info@canoealaska.net.

There is a 4 person minimum at $99 per person (in 1999) for paddle rafting. Supplied are the following:

You will need to bring the following:

bulletQuick-drying clothing
bulletHat for sun or rain
bulletTennis shoes or sandles
bulletWaterproof cameras

bulletPets

Canoe Trips Available:
CanoeAlaska offers self- and raft-supported custom guided canoe trips. They provide canoes, paddles, lifejackets and other equipment. Meals on the river are included, as well as shuttles for the road-to-road trips. Canoe instruction and natural history guides improve your skills, and answer any questions you may have.

More information on each of these trips and others can be found at the Canoe Alaska Web Site. A deposit (half the fee) is required when making the reservation. They even have a "Learn to Paddle" package!

Instruction:
They offer many different classes, with prices (in 1999) ranging from $165 for 2 1/5 days of individual instruction to $375 for four days of instruction and canoeing on the river. Women only classes are available, as well as refresher clinics for "alumni." Canoes, paddles, life vests, and food are all included in the price. Prices for only two instructional courses are on their web site, so you will  have to contact them for more information.
