Summer Tours with 1st Alaska Outdoor School (May through September)

Fairbanks City Tour

12:30pm -- 6:00pm (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) Departure from Morris Thompson Cultural Center (101 Dunkel Street, Phone: 907-456-5774)

This is the city tour that combines fun with Fairbanks history, Alaskan craftsmanship and Alaska winter activities. Time to see the exhibits in our visitor center before the city tour.

Fairbanks Highlight Tour

This tour is offered at 12:30pm -- 6:00pm (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday) This is a highlight tour that combines a unique perspective on local culture, life, and interesting Alaska facts. Departure is from the Morris Thompson Cultural Center (101 Dunkel Street, Phone: 907-456-5774) Take this opportunity to see the exhibits in our visitor center before the city tour. Other stops:

bulletSanta Claus House (visit Santa at his home in North Pole, and have your picture taken with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and shop for Alaska souvenirs.
 
bulletTrans Alaska Pipeline, a viewpoint that is the perfect spot to explain the astonishing engineering of the pipeline, the oil field in Prudhoe Bay, and the Alaska oil industry.

Arctic Circle Tour

Have your picture taken at the Arctic Circle!7 am to 10 p.m. with departure from Fairbanks (pick up from your lodging) - by reservation.

Plan for a full day of fun, and learning about Alaska. Have your picture taken on the Arctic Circle and receive a "Cross-the-Circle Certificate!" En-route, enjoy stunning views of interior Alaska, the Trans-Alaska-Pipeline, wildlife, the mighty Yukon River and the high plateau of Finger Mountain. Along the way there is plenty of opportunity to take pictures, view wildlife, and relax at rest stops where you can purchase breakfast and dinner. Please bring snacks and beverages.

Prudhoe Bay Tour

Departure from Fairbanks (pick up from your lodging) - by reservation. Traveling along the famous Alaska Oil Pipeline, your 3-day tour will be filled with fun, information and lots of time to enjoy the beautiful land of the Interior and Arctic of Alaska. Obtain your official Arctic Circle Certificate, and touch the Arctic Ocean. The experienced Alaskan Driver/Guide will answer your questions and endeavor to make this tour the highlight of your Alaska vacation. Bring lunch and beverages for 3 days and purchase breakfast and dinner at their rest stops. Accommodation is included. Check their website for lots more details of the trip.

Chena Hot Springs Tour from Fairbanks

From noon to 8 p.m., only 60 miles from Fairbanks, this world renowned resort offers a day of rest and relaxation in the historical location discovered by natives and early miners.

Free guided geothermal tour, and a guided tour of the Ice Museum can be purchased for only $15. Food and beverages are available at the local restaurant. Swim pass for the hot springs is included. McCarthy-Kennicott Tour

A 3-day McCarthy-Kennicott Tour that is the highlight of any visit to Alaska!

Experience the best of Wrangell St. Elias National Park (the largest National Park in America with its 13 million acres of roadless wilderness ). You will see the highest concentration of mountain peaks (most of them unexplored to this day) and uncounted glaciers – with only a handful of visitors.

Visit with the real Alaskan bush community of McCarthy, filled with a rich ghost town history mixed with stunning activities in one of natures greatest settings. Transportation begins with a narrated van tour with an experienced driver/guide. Along the way we stop for breakfast, at viewpoints and rest stops. The air conditioned 12-passenger vans are never packed full.

Bush plane takes off for Kennicott.In Chitina, we leave our van and take to the air in Wrangell Mountain Air Cessnas or DeHavillands, flying into North America’s most spectacular wilderness filled with more glaciers, mountains & wildlife than anywhere else. In Kennecott, you visit the tallest wooden structure in North America, the Kennicott mill building. Learn all about mining in the early 1900's.
